About Catherine

Catherine has been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) for over 30 years in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Since 2010, she has been working as a Nutrition Consultant for organizations which provide services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). She also enjoys consulting with businesses, schools, and with individuals who want to adopt healthier lifestyles.

Her nutrition career began as a clinical dietetic technician for a large teaching hospital where she was later inspired to begin training to become a Registered Dietitian. This opportunity allowed her to develop the skills and training which served as a stepping stone to her current position as a Nutrition Consultant. Working in private practice also gave her the flexibility needed to raise her family and to take advantage of volunteer opportunities inside and outside of nutrition.

Catherine’s most recent accomplishments as an IDD dietitian have resulted in improved health outcomes for her clients living in group homes. Her goal is to provide annual nutrition assessments and screenings for all of her clients and to develop care plans which are realistic and practical. She understands that with multiple care providers it is even more important to communicate effectively and to develop good relationships with her clients and staff. Catherine believes that flexibility is a necessary skill allowing her to work with others to come up with strategies and tools which are best for her clients.

Catherine obtained a BS degree in Family and Consumer Science from Lipscomb University in Nashville Tennessee. She completed dietetic courses for the post-bachelors dietetics internship at Middle Tennessee State University. She has been a member of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for over 30 years. Other memberships include The Greater Atlanta Dietetic Association and The Behavioral Health Nutrition Practice Group . She has also been trained to work with the Strong4Life program in Georgia which assists children and families with weight management.

Catherine understands that like herself, most people love to eat and are not always willing to give up all of their favorite foods. Years of experience has taught her that just making a few changes in your diet can make all the difference in a person’s health, weight, and outlook on life. She is all about empowering people to discover and achieve their own health and wellness goals by focusing on nutritious foods and adopting a lifestyle that works for them.
